If you have ever had a cavity, you are probably familiar with composite fillings. Inlays and onlays are used for cavities similarly, but a little bit differently. These two tooth restoration methods are used when a cavity is too big to be treated with a filling.
Cavities are more common than ever. Our team at Platinum Dental Care is dedicated to helping you keep your oral hygiene at its best. If you think you might have a cavity or want to rest assured that you don’t, make an appointment with us today!
What is the difference between an inlay and an onlay?
The difference between inlays and onlays is how they are used based on where they are placed. Inlays are used to treat cavities that are on the flatter part of teeth, while onlays are placed on the cusps (or non-flat) surfaces of the teeth. Onlays are typically bigger as they cover more of the tooth. Each of them function and restore teeth in the same way.
